A warm welcome to Week 6. Thank you to all our families who are doing an amazing job with remote learning and that means each and every one of you. During weeks 9 and 10 of this Term we will be conducting parent teacher interviews online. Next week you will receive a link and further details which will enable you to make your booking.
This week I will begin online interviews with 50 students and their families who will make up our Prep classes for 2021. It saddens me to think how our current Preps have had so little time to experience their first year of learning, growing, forming friendships and bonding with the school community. We can't wait until we are all back safely together.

Share What You Are Doing
I know there are lots of things happening in your homes to support each other. As a community it would be great to share these. They could include home based activities, games or some easy recipes. If you have anything you or your children would be willing to share please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will share them in our Monday newsletters or updates. Photos would be great!
This was a link that was shared with me by one of our parents by Michael Carr Gregg:
An email of gratitude received last week.
Thanks so much for the wonderful work you are doing with our daughter and all grade 6. Your encouraging words are so valuable to the learning process. I appreciate your efforts, especially when you are teaching from home which would be tough. Enjoy your weekend!
One of our parents has shared this great idea to create a garden made of wooden spoon children! I am hoping everyone can find an old wooden spoon at home or grab one from the supermarket when you are next there. You can use anything you have around the house to decorate your spoon to create a unique little person. If you go out on a bike ride or a walk you can leave your spoony in the pot plant at the bottom of the stairs at the Higgins Rd gate. We will bring them in each night and plant them under the Friendship Tree, ready for when we all return to school. Mrs Fitz will make this her Art lesson this week.
Fee statements will be emailed on Thursday 20 August.
When we are clearer about when the current restrictions end and what implications this has for Term Four I will work with our School Board to look at what changes need to be made to fees and levies this year and in 2021. In the meantime if the new restrictions have added to your financial pressure and you require assistance please email email@example.com so that I can assist you in responding to your needs. All correspondence is confidential.
School Census August 7th
The Australian Government Department of Education conducts a school Census on the first Friday of August each year. The Census collects information on students and staff from all non-government establishments that have, as their major activity, the administration or provision of full time primary, secondary and/or special education.
The purpose of the Census is to:
- Contribute to the calculation of the annual entitlement in respect of schools receiving Australian Government Recurrent Funding in line with the Australian Education Act 2013 (the Act) and Australian Education Regulation 2013 (the Regulation)
- Form part of the National Schools Statistics Collection, the official statistical description of Schooling in Australia
- From part of the school’s profile published by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority on the ‘My School’ website.
All schools in Australia are mandated to participate in the Census to ensure funding from the Federal Government.
A message from Cath Knights - Digi Tech Leader
I hope you are all safe and well. With the added Google Meets that we are currently having across all year levels we're seeing many of the students who need a reminder about the correct posture. It's important for the students to be sitting correctly both for work and when participating in Google Meet video calls. I have added a child friendly YouTube video showing them how to sit correctly when using devices at home as well as a document from the Catholic Education Commision of Victoria which you might like to read which will give you some ergonomic tips about desks, chairs, computers, phones and much more. Take care, stay safe and God bless.
